ARUSHA PARK
The park
covers an area of 137 square kilometers, Arusha National Park
lies between the peaks of Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru.
It’s Known for its outstanding altitude ranges vegetation,
topography etc. The park hosts a variety of species particular
to forest, mountain, and aquatic habitats
Olduvai Gorge
The Olduvai Gorge, popularly referred to as “The Cradle of Humankind”, is the site where in 1959 Dr. Louis Leakey and his wife Mary Leakey discovered the skull of Zinjanthropus, believed to have lived 1.5 millions years ago. Though it was small brained, the creature had a massive skull with huge teeth. Leakey later discovered another fossil hominid in the same layer of excavation, today known as Homo Habilis. It was smaller then Zinjanthropus but had a larger brain and was capable of making simple stone tools.
TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Tarangire
National Park is the one of the most spectacular parks in Tanzania.
The park is located in the Rift valley, and not far from the
eastern shore of Lake Manyara. This park covers an area of
approximately 2600 square kilometers. The park is panoramic and
soothing. It is know for its Baobab trees, open acacia woodlans, palm trees , trees rivers and wooden savannas that stretch far and wide in every in every direction.
During the dry
season from August to October, many of
the migratory wildlife species return to the waters of
the Tarangire River. Large herds of Zebras, elephants,
wildebeests, elands and Oryx congregate here until the wet season
allows them to migrate to lush new grazing land.
NGORONGORO CRATER
NNgorongoro
Crater is one of the most unique parks in Tanzania,
It’s is considered to be one of the great natural wonders of the
world. The park is 12 miles wide, 2000 feet deep, and it covers
an area of 102 square miles,Ngorongoro is an intact
volcanic crater and home to a spectacular concentration
of wildlife. The park hosts an estimated 30, 000 animals on its
base, including large herds such as wildebeest, buffalos,
elephants, elands, hartebeest, lions, hippos, and the
endangered black rhino.
SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
In Maasai
language, Serengeti means "endless plain", a fitting name for
this 14, 763 sq. kilometer expanse of grasslands and forests.
Nearly as large as the state of Connecticut, Serengeti National
Park is the biggest in Tanzania and one of the largest wildlife
sanctuaries in the world. The park is set within the high
plateau between the Ngorongoro highlands. The
park has low vegetation and vast seas of open plains, and is ideal
for game viewing. Animals found in this park are zebras, gazelles, wildebeests and many ohers.
KILIMANJARO
At 5896m
Kilimanjaro is Africa's highest Mountain, the highest
free-Standing Mountain in the world and one of its highest
dormant volcanoes. It is one of the world's most accessible high
Summits, and a beacon for visitors from around the world
Most climbers reach the crater rim with little more than a
walking stick, proper clothing and determination. But, there is
more to it than the Summit. A journey up her slopes takes you on
a climatic world tour, from the tropics to the arctic. Climbing
Mount Kilimanjaro is a fascinating and surprisingly easy
experience. Any one over 12 years of age with of
good lungs and fit enough to walk 20 km a day may attempt to
reach the Summit - Uhuru Peak.
There are six
recommended routes up the Mountains, some quite easy, some more
challenging. The following routes are recommended for most
climbers.
